The collector loved this painting, because it reminded him when he and his wife were on their honeymoon, but, unlike the man in the painting, he is balding. I don't usually work back into a piece, but his connection to it inspired me. The key was making the modification seamless. To do so, I experimented with some new oil painting mediums; took a deep breath and went at the painting surface with the same passion that I exhibited in the original paintings mark-making.
